Turnberry Hotel Experience.
May 9, 2014
Ayrshire Bed and breakfast Association members were invited to a day out at Turnberry Hotel we were met at the entrance of the hotel by the Concierge and shown into The Business Centre and introduced to Lisa McGhee the Marketing Manager who welcomed us on behalf of the hotel. We were given a short history of the hotel built in 1906 as the world’s first golf resort and then split up into groups of 4/6 and headed off for our tour.
First stop was into Aisla Bar & Lounge where we sampled mini sunrise pizzas and given a brief history of its famous diners no names mentioned but a few subtle hints, next stop James Miller Room this is a three A A Rosette winning dining experience more food laid out on a platter mini burger hand cut chips and salad and fish strips done in batter.
Next stop Grand Tea Lounge which is renowned for its truly memorable afternoon tea experiences we were not disappointed truly magnificent then on to Turnberry’s signature restaurant 1906 more sampling of food and finally invited into the holy grail the kitchen and introduced to the head chef and his team .
Time for a rest no we were then driven in a 4X4 down to outdoor pursuits area to try our hand at Archery and Air Rifle Shooting —- fantastic experience Joyce did really well at the shooting scoring 3 bull’s eyes I will not mention her score at the archery then back onto the 4X4’s and driven to the Turnberry Performance Academy for a few golf lessons on posture grip and swing
All in all a truly wonderful experience and big thank you to Lisa and her team for taking time out to explain the wonders of Turnberry Hotel.
